(NEW CAR) Drop-top 3-Series Gets Hard...

The new BMW 3-Series Convertible is to feature a folding hard-top roof.

Lowered and raised in just 22 seconds, the three-piece slidey tin top is BMW's first foray into a market where arch rivals Mercedes led the world.

Given that most M3 Cabs we see have the optional hard-top in place during winter months, owners of Bee-em Threes, at least in the UK, will probably be delighted.

There's also special leather in the interior to stop the seats and armrests soaking up so much heat when the roofs left open on hot days. So Mr Cheshire Estate Agent needn't burn his arse when he slides back into his 325i after a hard day's social climbing on holiday in Porto Banus.

On Sale in the UK next March, there'll initally be two choices of enging. The 325i and 335i, costing between 33 and 38 grand.

More details on what will no doubt be a fine four-seat drop-top nearer to launch.
